Production of quality seeds stressed

RANGPUR, Oct 26 (BSS): Agri-experts at a farmers' gathering Monday stressed the need for production and preservation of adequate quantities of quality seeds at the farmers' levels for enhancing agri-productions.
They directed the field levels officials and experts of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) to disseminate the latest agri-technologies to the farmers for producing more quality seeds to meet their seed demands and increase productions.
They were addressing the gathering arranged at the field of farmer Jahangir Alam on cutting ceremony of short duration BINA dhan 7 paddy under the 'Farmers' Level Seed Production, Preservation and Distribution Project' in Uttam Bloc under Sadar Upazila.
Chaired by Additional Director of the DAE, Rangpur Zone, Mohsin Ali, the crop cutting ceremony and farmers' gathering was attended and addressed by Director (On farm Wing) of the DAE Habibur Rahman from Khamarbari in Dhaka as the chief guest.
Deputy Director of the DAE, Rangpur, Hasanur Rahman, District Training Officer of the DAE Aminul Islam, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Wajed, Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) Nur Alam, were present as the special guests.
Later, crop cutting of BINA dhan 7 short duration paddy was held in presence of the agri-experts in the field for preserving the paddy as seeds and the farmer got yield rate of 4.83 tonnes paddy per hectare (3.22 tonnes rice per hectare).
