Prof Dr Shariful Islam new pro-VC of BUET

Professor Dr Mohammad Shariful Islam from the Civil Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has been appointed new pro-vice-chancellor of the university.
According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Education, he has been appointed to the pro-VC post for a four-year term. Dr Shariful Islam succeeds Prof Dr Abdul Hasib Chowdhury as the 4th pro-VC of the university. He assumed his responsibilities on 25 July 2026.
He obtained B.Sc degree in Civil Engineering with distinction from BUET in 1997. In the same year, he began his career as a lecturer at BUET. Later, he was promoted to the position of professor in 2013.
