Prof Islam laid to eternal rest

CHITTAGONG, Mar 17 (BSS): Mathematical physicist and cosmologist Prof Emeritus Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam was laid to eternal rest at city's Garibulla Shah Graveyard at 5.45 pm today after the second Namaz-e-Janaza held at city's Jamiatul Falah Mosque after Asr prayers. Earlier, the first Namaz-e-Janaza of the late Professor was held on his favourite Chittagong University (CU) campus Saturday. Earlier, Dr Jamal Nazrul Islam breathed his last at the age of 74 at Chittagong Metropolitan Hospital around at 12 noon yesterday. Later, the body was brought to Chittagong central Shaheed Minar premises at around 4.25 pm Saturday and kept there for 30 minutes for people to pay last respect to the internationally reputed scientist. The great Mathematical researcher, was born on February 24 in 1939 in Jhenidah.
