Prof M Mufakharul Islam joins National University as VC

Dr M Mufakharul Islam, a retired professor of history of Dhaka University joined the National University as its Vice-chancellor Thursday.
Born in Jamalpur, Professor Islam did his masters from Dhaka University in 1963 and Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies (London) in 1972.
He started his teaching career in Chittagong College in 1964 and later joined the newly-established University of Chittagong. Later Dr. Mufakharul Islam joined Dhaka University and retired recently.
Professor Islam had to his credit three monographs and about 50 research papers published in journals at home and abroad.
He is a Fellow of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation (Germany) and a Cambridge author. He is a member of several learned societies at home and abroad. He has travelled extensively.
