Prof Piash Karim laid to rest

BRAC University professor Piash Karim who passed away on Monday was laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard in the city on Friday. Piash Karim, also a political analyst and TV talk-show panelist, was buried around 3pm after two namaj-e-janazas. The 2nd and final namaj-e-janaza for the deceased was held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Jum’a prayers, which was attended by people from all walks of life, including politicians, journalists, teachers and students. Senior leaders of the BNP-lead 20-party alliance, including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members MK Anwar, Mirza Abbas, joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, former Bangladesh Bank Governor Salehuddin Ahmed, ex-caretaker government adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman, journalists Mahfuz Ullah, Ruhul Amin Gazi, Syed Abdal Rahman and business leader Aftab Ahmed, among others, attended the janaza. His 1st Janaza was held at Baitul Aman Jam-e-Mosque in Dhanmondi around 11:20am, according to a news agency.
