Prof Tareq wins award for arsenic research

Prof Dr Shafi Mohammad Tareq, teacher of Environmental Science Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU), won the Bangladesh Academy of Science and World Academy of Science (BAS-WAS) gold medal-2011 for his contribution to national science and technology in Bangladesh.
His research work was on arsenic, water pollution and the cause of environment pollution.
In the study of arsenic pollution, he improved the arsenic determination methods, prepared macro and micro-geochemical maps of arsenic for different areas of Bangladesh as well as Nepal and devised porous as well as mesoporous materials for arsenic removal.
