Professional accountants could serve the society better, says SEC Chairman

Chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission Faruq Ahmad Siddiqi said that professional accountants could serve the society better by upholding ethical standard.
He said this during a meeting with ICMAB delegates headed by its President Zahir Uddin Ahmed at its office in the city recently.
The ICMAB president apprised the Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman about the role of Cost and Management Accountants and their contribution towards the establishment of transparency, accountability and corporate governance in the business and industrial sectors of our country.
He pointed out that the trade and industries sector of the country would be profitable through Cost Audit. He also sought active guidance and support of SEC Chairman for development of CMA profession as well as the institute.
The SEC Chairman appreciated the increased role of Cost and Management Accountants for the establishment of good governance, transparency, accountability and financial discipline in the business and industrial sectors of the country. He urged the professional accountants to increase their professional knowledge, skill, efficiency and ethical standard.
He also urged the Cost and Management Accountants to play due role to fight the corruption, for which the present government is striving hard. He also assured all possible help and assistance for the development of the Institute as well as the CMA profession.
SEC Vice presidents ABM Shamsuddin and AKM Delwer Hussain and Secretary ASM Shaykhul Islam, were also present in the meeting.
