Professional skills in banking sector underscored

RAJSHAHI, Nov 3 (BSS): Speakers asked the newly recruited officers of Sonali Bank Limited to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty to brighten the image of the bank side by side with bolstering the economic activities. They were addressing the closing session of a four-week foundation training course for the newly appointed officers (Cash) of the bank at its training institute here today. The main objective of the course was to enhance professional competence of the newly appointed officers through disseminating ideas about overall operation and administration of the bank. General Manager Hassan Iqbal, who addressed the session as the chief guest, asked the newly appointed officers to gain professional skills, as it is very much inevitable to attain success in the banking sector. He urged the trained officers to make their banking activities free from corruption and monopoly so that the clients could derive total benefits of the banking services. The speakers highlighting the importance of the bank in overall socio-economic development asked the officers to apply the acquired knowledge from the course properly in their professional field for expediting the commercial activities along with boosting agricultural and industrial production. With chief instructor of the institute and Assistant General Manager Jahangir Alam in the chair, faculty members Rafiqul Islam, Ashraful Alam, Arshad Hossain and Ashiqul Islam spoke at the occasion. A total of 25 senior officers took part in the training course. Jail Killing Day observed The mournful Jail Killing Day was observed in Rajshahi city today paying rich tribute to the four national leaders who were assassinated in Dhaka central jail on this day 36 years ago. The day's programs included hoisting of national and party flags on half-mast and black flags, mourning procession, placing of floral wreaths on the mazar of AHM Qamaruzzaman, one of the assassinated four national leasers, doa mahfil, discussion meeting and feeding of destitute. The mass participated programs demanded re-trial of the heinous killing within safe arena of Dhaka Central Jail on this day in 1975. Processionists laid floral wreath at the mazar of assassinated national leader Shahid AHM Qamaruzzaman Hena in his family graveyard at Kadirganj here in the morning. In the early morning national, party and black flags were hoisted half-mast atop mahanagar AL office by the leaders including Central Committee member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton. Later on, they garlanded the portraits of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four assassinated national leaders. Afterwards Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton led procession of RCC Councilors and Awami League and Chhatra League leaders and placed floral wreath at the mazar of AHM Qamaruzzaman Hena.
