Programme on poet Fazal Shahabuddin at Chhayanaut today

A commemorative programme on poet Fazal Shahabuddin, who died recently, will be held today (Saturday) at the Chhayanaut auditorium at Dhanmondi in the city.
The programme will feature discussion, recitation of poems and a musical soiree.
Poet Aminur Rahman, one of the organisers of the event, told the FE that they want to remember the poet who made great contribution to Bangla literature.
Eminent poet and writer Syed Shamsul Haque, senior journalist Towab Khan, former adviser to the caretaker government Mahbub Jamil, artist Quayyum Chowdhury, former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, architect Shamsul Wares and poets Hayat Saif, Mohammad Nurul Huda, Zahidul Haque and Azmeri Shahabuddin (wife of the poet) will attend the programme.
Elocutionist Hasan Arif will render a recitation at the event, where the launching of the poet's last book "Ekjon Kobi Ekaki" will also be held.
The poet was born in Dhaka in 1936. He was founder editor of the weekly "Bichitra" and published "Binodon" magazine in 1964.
He worked in the Dainik Pakistan and the Bangladesh Observer and became popular in the 1960s as a poet.
Fazal Shahabuddin received Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Award and many national and international awards for his outstanding contribution to literature.
