Projects to develop Cox's Bazar not implemented

CHITTAGONG, Nov 10: Most of the projects to develop tourism and beautify Cox's Bazar, have not been implemented. Although certain projects were began but has not been finished ultimately, concerned sources said.
However, necessary initiatives have been taken recently to ensure the ongoing works progress and competition created in the tourism business through re-organising a Beach Management Committee.
A number of plans were chalked out by the different departments from time to time to develop the main tourism centre of the country and attract tourists. The plans had not been remarkable and were not implemented. As a result, tourism city of Cox's Bazar still remains neglected.
However, different hotels has been developed to accommodate tourists both from home and abroad.
Meanwhile, district administration, Joint Forces and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation have taken a good number of steps and arranged meetings.
It was resolved to enhance the tourism facilities of Cox's Bazar through the re-organised Beach Management Committee and 15 project were undertaken for the overall uplift of tourism at the initial stage. It was also resolved to complete all the unfinished projects by the month of November next, sources added.
