Promoting organic farming

Tuesday, 23 February 2021

Chemical fertilisers and pesticides are harmful to human health. Keeping this in mind, many farmers are now cultivating safe vegetables in the front and backyards of their homes throughout the year using organic methods. Safe vegetables are healthy for human body and more flavourful, as well. That is why such vegetables have gained higher demand in the marketplace and are being sold at higher prices than vegetables cultivated using chemicals fertilisers and pesticides. With organic farming, farmers have not only been able to avoid chemicals and pesticides, but have also been protecting the environmental balance. Moreover, it is saving them extra cost of fertilisers and pesticides. Yearlong vegetable farming has changed the living standards of the farmers of many districts and it is becoming more popular among them.
Organic agriculture involves the use of biological materials, avoiding synthetic substances and ecological balance, minimising pollution and wastage. It can gain more popularity if authorities can take some initiatives in this regard. The farmers, who have been producing safe foods, can be certified for their produce and products to be labelled "organic". Private organisations including some chain shops can come forward to market these produces as safe foods. This is how organic farming may get a big boost in the coming days.
