Promotion of science education

Science can help a lot to lift a country so far as its development is concerned. The incumbent government in Bangladesh very much realises this. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at a ceremony recently urged the youths to practice science for the new generation.
The sad part is that not very long ago, around 40 per cent students studied science at the secondary level but now it has come down to 20 per cent. It is an open secrete that teachers at educational institutions are recruited not by merit but for an underhand deal. So, quality teachers are not recruited.
We urge the government to recruit brilliant and dedicated persons as teachers through establishing a PSC-like organisation for recruitment of teachers.
