Speakers at a roundtable in the city recently stressed on exploring the burgeoning market of the world's major emerging economies in a bid to diversify the country's export destinations.
Simultaneously, they have urged for effective country branding of Bangladesh abroad and also called for developing a globally recognized Bangladeshi brand to create a niche for Bangladeshi products in the world market.
The world's major emerging economies like China, India, Russia and Brazil with their huge population and booming economies offer huge potential market for Bangladeshi RMG products and other commodities- the speakers opined at a roundtable organized on Bangladesh's Export- Challenge, Opportunity and Action" in the city.
"With the immense growth of China and India as a huge potential market, many of the world's top apparel brands are opening their retail stores in those countries", said Md. Mahbub-ur-Rahman, Head of Corporate Banking of HSBC in Bangladesh.
"Such trend requires a rethinking of our business strategies in readymade garments sector as the RMG producers should focus more attention in those two Asian giants", he added.
Bangladesh Brand Forum in collaboration with HSBC organized the event which was participated by a number of business executives from various leading companies.
Emphasizing on increasing intraregional trade within the Asian market, Mahbub also highlighted that such move could work to reduce Bangladesh's existing trade with the two countries.
