Proper knowledge of VAT, income tax vital for businesses

DCCI Director Manzur Ur Rahman said proper knowledge of income tax laws are needed for smooth running of business organisations.
He said this at the certificate distribution ceremony of a training course on 'rules and procedures of value-added tax (VAT) and income tax' organised by the DCCI Business Institute (DBI) in the city Wednesday.
Rahman also underscored the need for improving knowledge for purchasing goods from the market and calculation of taxes and how VAT is calculated, collected and paid to the government.
DCCI Director KMH Shahidul Haque urged business entrepreneurs to give VAT properly for national development. Haque urged the participants to disseminate ideas among their colleagues and management.
DBI Executive Director Md Hossain Ali briefed about the role of DCCI for advocating business policies to the government. He also invited the participants to take part in various training programmes of DBI designed for development of business executives and entrepreneurs.
The courses on VAT and income tax are aimed at familiarising the topics that included "Introduction to the VAT and Salary Tax Systems in Bangladesh, Registration and Record Keeping Procedures of VAT, Calculation of VAT (Valuation), Credit Mechanism of VAT System, Return Submission and Demand, Fine and Penalty for Non-Payment of VAT, Salary Tax Assessment, Company Tax Assessment, Submission of Tax Returns" etc.
A good number of people from different business organisations participated in the training programme.
