CHITTAGONG, Aug 09: Kaptai National Park (KNP) may emerge as an attractive eco-tourism spot for the visitors from both home and abroad, if the concerned authorities continue to develop it with proper planning in without interruption.
Based at Kaptai upazila under Rangamati and 60-km away from port-city, KNP is a pleasant sight. It is the forest artificially built forest park garden in the sub-continent.
KNP attracts visitors with its unique combination of river, hill, fountain, stream and green landscape and a number of species of birds and animals dwelling inside it. Such an ecological co-existence is unique in the region.
While walking inside the park numerous trees spontaneously evoke serenity among the tourists and visitors. The number such visitors has gradually been increasing.
The artificial forestation programme began at Rampahar Reserve Forest at Kaptai in 1873, and continued up to 1999. A total of 9,296 hectares of land have so far been brought under the project at KNP.
