registration fees

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has taken a move to harmonise registration fee for apartments and land sales tax. The move has been taken to bring down the cost of housing. The fees in Bangladesh are the highest in South Asia.

NBR Chairman Abdul Mazid at the second round of post budget roundtable on real estate termed the high registration cost as 'uncomfortable' for both buyers and sellers, leading concealment of actual price.

Registration fee for selling apartment in Bangladesh is 16.5 per cent, which is 7.0 per cent in India and 5.0 per cent in Pakistan. Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh suggested for lowering the fees to 5.0 per cent
