The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) has sent a project proposal to the Planning Commission (PC), seeking its approval for the ministry's capacity building, officials said.
The project (with three components) suggests upgrading of Bangladesh's trade portal, support coordination for trade and opportunities for economic empowerment of women and coordination and capacity building of the MoC.
"We have sent a technical project proposal to the Planning Commission for approval for the ministry's capacity building," a high official of the MoC told the FE.
Enhanced integrated framework (EIF), an umbrella organisation of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), conducted a pre-diagnostic trade integration study (PDTIS) aiming to ensure capacity building of different ministries and government agencies. Bangladesh is a member of EIF since 2009. The MoC through the World Bank (WB) also carried out a 'diagnostic trade integration study (DTIS) during the period between 2012 and 2015.
