Proposal to give VIP status to all FFs

Liberation War Affairs Ministry will send a proposal to the Prime Minister for giving VIP status to all freedom fighters (FFs) of the country, reports UNB.
Liberation War Affairs Minister A K M Mozammel Huq Sunday said this in Parliament, responding to a written question of independent MP M Rustam Ali Farazi (Pirojpur-3).
Mozammel said to provide VIP status to the freedom fighters, his ministry sent letters to all ministries, seeking their opinions as per the directive of the Ministry of Finance (MoF). All the ministries have since sent their opinions to the Liberation War Affairs Ministry.
"As per the opinions and directives of the MoF, the matter will be sent to the Prime Minister for her consideration," he said.
The liberation war affairs minister also said his ministry sent a proposal to the MoF to give VIP status to the gallantry award-winning freedom fighters and the war-wounded freedom fighters.
Replying to a question of S M Abul Kalam Azad (Dhaka-17), he said the government does not have a complete list of 'Birangana' (female war heroes). "But the government has taken steps to prepare such a list."
Responding to another question of M A Malek (Dhaka-20), Mozammel said the Liberation War Affairs Ministry is taking an initiative to prepare a list of the members of Bengal Liberation Front (BLF), popularly known as 'Mujib Bahini', as the government also has no list of these freedom fighters.
