Proposed amendments to ICT law go to cabinet soon: Anisul
Sunday, 7 December 2014
Law Minister Anisul Huq Sunday said the proposed amendments to the ‘International Crimes (Tribunals) Act’ will be placed before the cabinet meeting soon for its approval.
“The proposals for amending the ICT law will be placed before the cabinet meeting in the current month or early January. The draft bill will be passed in Parliament after the President’s speech in the first session of the new year,” he said.
The minister was talking to reporters after inaugurating a training course on arbitration at a city hotel.
Anisul said the proposals for amending the ICT law could not be placed before the cabinet as regular its meetings could not be held in October and November due to a number of foreign tours of the Prime Minister.
Replying to a question, he said the Constitution (Sixteenth Amendment) Bill seeking to empower Parliament to remove Supreme Court judges will be passed only after consultations with the Bar Council and all concerned of the Supreme Court. “Work is in progress in this regard.”, according to a news agency.
