Sunday, 9 June 2024

FE Report
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will give its formal reaction to the proposed budget for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-2025 today (Sunday).
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir along with the party's standing committee members will come up with the party's official reaction to the budget at a press briefing, according to party sources.
The press briefing will be held at the party chairperson's Gulshan office in the city, he added.
Earlier on Thursday (June 6) after announcement of the proposed national budget, Mirza Fakhrul in an instant reaction to the media said, "This is an anti-Bangladesh budget which will put more burden on the ordinary people."
He termed the budget as favouring government-linked looters over people.

"This budget was devised for plundering. This so-called budget is for more expenses rather than income. All burdens will be on the shoulders of the people. Loans from banks and foreigners (foreign countries) will increase," he said.
He also said that the prices of all essential items will escalate due to this budget.
He added that everyone knows about looting in the power sector.
"People have been losing their ability to survive. The budget has no direction towards new job creation. This budget is for mega corruption in the name of mega projects," he maintained.
