Proposed Truth Commission under govt consideration, says law adviser

Tuesday, 25 December 2007

Law Adviser Barrister Mainul Hosein said Monday despite differences of opinion that created confusion, the formation of the proposed Truth Commission is under consideration of the government, report agencies.
Talking to reporters, he said politicians alongside businessmen would get the opportunity to appear before the proposed Commission.
"The government wants to repatriate the money siphoned off and to make that happen Truth Commission is needed," he said.
The adviser said complaints against businessmen could be settled through the proposed Commission to resuscitate economic activities.
He called upon media personnel to extend their all-out co-operation to make the truth commission effective.
