Prosecution submits charges against three Habiganj men

Prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 submitted on Sunday formal charges against three men from Nabiganj upazila in Habiganj for the atrocities they allegedly committed during the Liberation War in 1971, reports BSS
A three-member panel of the ICT-1 led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam set June 4 for holding hearing on whether to take the charges into cognizance.
The three accused are former chairman of Gojanaipur union of Nabiganj Abul Khayer Golap Miah (66), Md Jamal Uddin Ahammed (65) and Sheikh Gias Uddin Ahmed (70). Of the three, Golap was arrested on April 12, 2017, and Jamal was arrested on November 23, 2017. Gias is still at large.
According to the prosecution, the trio was involved in the killings of 17, raping six women, torching 25 houses, abduction and torture of 30 people, among others.
