Crisis in Proshika deepened further Saturday after the recently ousted chairman Qazi Faruque Ahmed had formed a new governing body and had been elected the new chief by it, allegedly violating rules and regulations of the organisation.
The new governing body of one of the largest NGO's of the country also declared illegal the other governing body, formed on May 24, which replaced Qazi Faruque with Md Abdul Wadud as the chairman.
The new highest policy making body also introduced the executive committee, formed after the 35th annual general meeting (AGM) of Proshika, said Dr Ahmed at a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the city Saturday.
Meanwhile, the other (anti-Faruque) governing body in a press release termed illegal Saturday's AGM as well as forming a new governing body and electing a new chairman.
"According to the provision no-3 of the rules and regulations of the organisation, the date and place of the AGM should be fixed in the governing body meeting."
"But before the 105th governing body meeting of the organisation on May 24, which removed Qazi Faruque from chairmanship, he did not call a single meeting for about 10 months," said the press release, signed by Proshika chief executive officer (CEO) Mahbub-ul-Karim.
