Protecting Bangladeshis from HIV infection emphasised

JESSORE, Feb 16:  Speakers at a roundtable said a number of people of the country going to India in search of better jobs are most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.  They need to be conscious about the deadly disease AIDS.
They also said out of 1,849 vulnerable people, 32 were found HIV/AIDS positive in Jessore and Satkhira since May 2012 to January 2014. Care Bangladesh made the survey among those who go to India in search of better jobs.
The information was disclosed at a roundtable on reaching the unreached population through lens of HIV & AIDS, migration and development held at Jessore Press Club Saturday morning.
Care Bangladesh and daily Gramer Kagoj arranged the programme.
Lawmakers Kazi Nabil Ahmed and Mostafa Lutfullah were guests in the roundtable chaired by Mobinul Islam Mobin, editor, Gramer Kagoj.
Abu Taher, team leader, Care Bangladesh, EMPHASIS project presented the keynote paper attended among others by Dr Atiqur Rahman Khan, civil surgeon, Jessore, Yeakub Ali Mollah, superintendent, Jessore Medical College Hospital, Hafizul Islam Maruf, project manager, Care Bangladesh and a number of journalists and UP chairmen.
