Shahbagh demonstrators brought out a procession in the capital Thursday protesting the Supreme Court (SC) verdict commuting Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee's death penalty to imprisonment unto death, reports UNB.
The protesters, led by Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri (BCM) president Bappaditya Basu, also the coordinator of a faction of Ganajagaran Mancha, brought out the procession from Shahbagh Chattar around 12.00 noon.
After parading Ruposhi Bangla Hotel and Kataban areas, the procession terminated at Shahbagh.
Commuting the death sentence handed down by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1), the SC jailed Wednesday Jamaat-e-Islami nayeb-e-ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee unto death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
