Prothom Alo journo comes under attack at Sikder Medical

A doctor and his cohorts at Sikder Medical College and Hospital in the city assaulted a special correspondent of the Bangla daily Prothom Alo as he had been there to collect information about the physician's 'irregularities,' reports UNB.
Dr Shafiul Alam, the chief cardiologist of the hospital, along with his aides swooped on journalist Shishir Morol of the daily and roughed him up confining him for about two and a half hours when he went to the doctor to have his version about the some allegations surfaced against him.
Shishir was freed around 12:30pm on his giving an undertaking on a white paper.
The journalist was undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib
Medical University (BSMMU) after the attack.
Contacted, the Prothom Alo reporter said that there were allegations that Shafiul had been using several designations and continuing his job at the private hospital for long despite being a government physician.
Shafiul said Shishir should meet him at the hospital as he sought his comments over phone about the allegations.
Shishir said the Prothom Alo authorities were going to file a case against the doctor in this connection.
Meanwhile, different journalist bodies, including the Jatiya Press Club, Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), strongly condemned and protested the incident.
They demanded quick and exemplary punishment of Shafiul and others involved in the incident.
