PSTN employees threaten agitation programme

FE Report
The employees of closed landline phone operators have threatened to take to the streets from next week, if the government does not meet their demand by April 8.
They, under the banner of Employees Association of PSTN Operators of Bangladesh, urged the government to take immediate steps to put to rest their apprehension of losing jobs due to the ongoing crackdown.
Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) had so far sealed off switch rooms of five landline operators -- RanksTel, PeoplesTel, WorldTel, National Phone and Dhaka Phone -- from mid-March for their suspected involvement in illegal call termination through VoIP (voice over internet protocol).
