Pubali Bank branch managers asked to achieve business target

RAJSHAHI, Mar 13: Deputy General Manager of Pubali Bank Ltd Safiul Alam Khan Chowdhury said that branches which were incurring losses would be closed down, if they failed to earn profit within December next.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the First Managers' Conference 2010 of Pubali Bank Rajshahi region at a local hotel Friday morning.
Mr Chowdhury asked the branch managers to achieve the business target set for the year 2010 by providing better customer service.
He said the bank had earned a profit of Tk 8.125 million during the last two months in Rajshahi region and 22 branches, out of 24 in the region, had earned Tk 44.9 million during the 2008-2009 fiscal year.
He asked the two losing branches to take steps to make them profit-oriented by the year end, otherwise the branches would face closure.
Mr Chowdhury asked the managers to increase deposit, advance and export-import business of the bank and achieve the business target set for the year 2010.
He assured them of all sorts of logistics support for achieving the target.
He also put emphasis on selecting potential borrowers, enhancing business and recovery of outstanding, classified and written-off loans on priority basis.
He asked all the managers to ensure accountability for their activities.
Preisded over by Abdus Salam, deputy general manager, Pubali Bank Rajshahi region, the conference was addressed, among others, by M Aynul Haque Bhuiyan, DGM, as special guest.
