Pubali Bank holds managers' confce of Ctg region

Pubali Bank Limited Managing Director Helal Ahmed Chowdhury laid emphasis on recovery of overdue, classified and written-off loans on priority basis.

The Pubali Bank MD said this as the chief guest at the Branch Managers' Conference-2009 of Chittagong Region of the bank held at Chittagong Club in the port city recently, said a press release.

Bank's General Manager of GM Office, Chittagong Md Fazlul Haque presided over the conference.

Also present at the conference were Pubali Bank regional head of Chittagong North Md Sirajul Islam Miah, regional head of Chittagong South and Hill Tracts Region Rowshon Akhter along with branch managers of Chittagong North, South and Hill Tracts regions.

Mr Chowdhury stressed on proper selection of potential borrowers for increasing the banks business.

Pubali Bank is the pioneer for launching a scheme titled 'Non-Resident Credit Scheme' through which one can avail monetary assistance for abroad on employment, he said.

He advised all to work hard to increase remittances by rendering best customer services.

He underscored the need for increased utilisation of the modern information technology (IT) for qualitative improvement in the overall customer service of the bank as it has to operate in a highly competitive banking sector.

He said Pubali Bank would open 15 new branches this year, permission for which has already been given by Bangladesh Bank.

Among 15 branches, two would be opened in Dhaka city, three branches in other cities and the rest ten branches would be opened in rural areas.

Pubali Bank Limited with its 371 branches has entered into online banking network.

Initially 10 branches of Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet started its operation through online.

Gradually all branches will be under Online system.
