Pubali Bank to disburse Tk 1.0b in agri-credit sector thru’ BRAC

A meeting of the board of directors of Pubali Bank Limited (PBL) on policy and planning was held in the city recently.
Chairman, Board of Directors of the bank Hafiz Ahmed Majumder presided over the meeting.
Directors Moniruddin Ahmed, Sk Wahidur Rahman, Giasuddin Ahmed, Monzurur Rahman, Ahmed Shafi Chowdhury, M Faizur Rahman, Managing Director Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, General Manager and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ATM Hasanuzzaman and Company Secretary Prodip Kumar Sen attended the meeting.
In the meeting core risk management, agri-credit disbursement, food-grain import, large loans, etc. were discussed and some important decisions were taken in this regard.
A threadbare discussion on core risk management was held and the management was advised to comply with Bangladesh Bank guidelines in this regard meticulously.
The board decided to disburse an amount of Tk 1.0 billion (100 crore) in agri-credit sector through BRAC and similar organisations.
Considering present foodgrain position of the country, the Board took decision to continue finance to foodgrain importers and small importers also.
Large loans of the bank was reviewed and the board expressed their satisfaction as management vigilant in maintaining prescribed ratio of the Bangladesh Bank in this regard.
Board advised management to keep close vigilance of the newly disbursed loans by intensive supervision and close monitoring so that the loans may not become overdue or classified.
Besides these, decisions were taken to recruit more new officers and further modernisation of IT division of the bank. Board also decided to diversify the bank's products.
