Pubali Bank wins 'Best Financial Institution' award

Pubali Bank Limited, the country's largest private sector bank in terms of assets and networks, won the DHL-Daily Star Bangladesh Business Awards 2009 as the "Best Financial Institution".
The award celebrates the bank's efforts to take banking services to the masses through its 386 branches accross the country and its role in socio-econimic, industrial and agricultural development.
Managing Director Helal Ahmed Chowdhury received the award on behalf of the bank from Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank Friday. Mahfuz Anam, the editor and publisher of the Daily Star and Malcolm Monterio, Senior Vice President of DHL Express, South Asia delivered welcome speech in the function.
Dr. Atiur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank said, local entrepreneurs, after their success in the global apparel export markets are making a foray for new breakthroughs in diverse directions, such as export of services and ocean going vessels.
He said, banking sector is the heart of Bangladesh economy and hoped banks can play a vital role to reduce poverty and help promote the socio-economic development of the country.
He urged all banks to provide agricultural loan and congratulated Pubali Bank for their effort in this regard.

Mentioning the past heritage, history, culture of the bank, the first ever Bengali enterprenuers bank, he said that the management with the help of Board of Directors are doing its best for expansion of business, upgrading of customer services in all respect since privatisation of the entity in 1985.
He affirmed that Pubali Bank will render its service to the remote area of the country.
