Thursday, 15 May 2014
Public hearing on Narayanganj multiple murders have resumed for the 2nd successive day with the testimony of murdered Ward Councillor Nazrul Islam’s father-in-law. The investigation committee formed by an order of the High Court started the public hearing at Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) Office from 10am on Thursday, seeking information on the murders of 7 people. Just six people showed up to depose before it on Monday, the 1st day of the hearing. That left the investigators worried over how much they could finally get to know about the high-profile murders. There are also reservations about the hearing being held in the DC’s office. ‘A lot of people would have turned up if the hearing was held at Siddhirganj,’ said Nazrul’s father-in-law Shahidul Islam. ‘They don’t want to come here because they fear for their own security,’ he added, according to bdnews24.com.
