Public holiday in four cities, nine municipalities on Aug 4

The government declared August 4 public holiday in the four city corporations and nine municipalities that are going to the polls on the day in the first phase of a series of elections planned in the present transition process, reports UNB.
Officials and employees of all government, semi-government, autonomous, semi-autonomous and private offices and organisations in the areas would enjoy the holiday meant for "facilitating exercise of franchise and polling", an official announcement said Sunday.
The city corporations are Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet.
The municipalities are Naohata in Rajshahi, Dupchanchia in Bogra, Chuadanga, Sreepur in Gazipur, Manikganj, Fulbaria in Mymensingh, Shariatpur, Golapganj in Sylhet and Sitakundu in Chittagong.
