\\\'Punish perpetrators of RU teacher killing\\\'

Teachers, students, officials and employees of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) formed a human chain in Khulna city on Thursday in protest against killing of Rajshahi University professor AKM Shafiul Islam. Addressing a rally after the human chain, speakers demanded arrests, trial and exemplary punishment to the perpetrators of the murder. Under the banner of ‘Progotishil and Shacheton teachers’ the human chain was formed for an hour from 11.00am in front of ‘Durbar Bangla’, a monument of Liberation War on the campus. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof Dr. Muhammed Alamgir urged the government to bring the killers to book and give them exemplary punishment. Terming the killing of Prof Shafiul Islam a heinous act, the VC urged the authorities concerned to ensure security to the intellectuals, including teachers, especially the pro-Liberation War teachers across the country. Several hundred teachers, students, dean of different faculties, heads of different departments, directors, officials and employees attended the programme, according to a news agency.
