Punitive action taken against 16 students

The Barisal University (BU) authorities have taken punitive action against 16 students for attacking the university’s assistant registrar Bahauddin Golap and vandalising his office on the BU campus. The decision came at a Syndicate meeting held at its liaison office at Kalabagan in Dhaka city with BU Vice-chancellor Harun-Or-Rashid in the chair. Of the students, three have been expelled while four were suspended for two years and nine others for one year. Some unruly students attacked Bahauddin Golap and three staff members of his office, leaving the assistant registrar and the three staff members injured on June 5 this year. A probe committee was also formed to investigate the matter, according to a news agency.
