Purbachal plots handover to start by Dec

The city development authority will start handing over plots of the planned Purbachal town to the owners by December, the head of RAJUK has said, reports BSS.
Purbachal with an area of about 6,150 acres is touted as the country's biggest planned township, located in between the Shitalakhya and the Balu rivers in Narayanganj and Gazipur districts.
The township, which will house 1.0 million people, is located just the north-eastern side of the capital with a distance of 16 km from zero point of Dhaka.
In the first phase, the authority plans to provide 1,500 plots out of 2,500 plots in sectors 4 and 17 to the allottees, chairman of RAJUK Engineer Md Nurul Huda told state news agency--BSS.
"We've decided to start the handing over process. Otherwise, people will lose their trust and confidence on RAJUK," the Rajuk boss said.
He added that plots in sectors 1, 3, 5, 11, 12, 13, and 14 are also ready for hand-over in phases.
In the Purbachal project, the RAJUK chief said, there are about 26,000 residential plots of different sizes, 62,000 apartments with all necessary infrastructures and urban facilities including schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, medical centres, mosques, temples, churches, playgrounds and lakes.
The RAJUK has earmarked 290 acres of land in sectors 2, 3, 21, 30, 28 and 15 for constructing 217 twenty-storied buildings with an estimated cost of Tk. 9,900 crore making accommodation for lower and middle-income group of people.
In the first phase, the RAJUK chairman said, 21,500 apartments would be constructed in three categories A-type 850 square feet, B-type 1,250 square feet and C-type 1,500 square feet.
The Purbachal project is being constructed at a cost of Tk. 77 billion and it will be linked with 300-feet wide eight-lane expressway from the Airport road through Pragati Swarani crossing and Nikunja residential area, the distance would be only 6.8 kilometers.
