Purbokone editor Taslim Uddin passes away

CHITTAGONG, Nov 15: Architect Md Taslim Uddin Chowdhury, editor of Dainik Purbokone, a regional popular Bangla daily from Chittagong, passed away today ( Wednesday) at a private hospital in Dhaka. He was 67.
Taslim Uddin had been suffering from various diseases for a long time.
Sources at Purbokone office said the editor breathed his last at 6.45am.
He was under treatment at the hospital since after his admission there early last week.
He was buried at his family graveyard at Dhewa Hajipara village in Raozan upazila of the district after a namaz-e-janaza at Nasirabad Boys' High School ground at night.
Taslim Uddin Chowdhury was the eldest son of late Yusuf Chowdhury, founder of the daily.
He was former vice president of Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, director of the Chittagong Stock Exchange, president of Greater Chittagong Unnayan Sangram Parishad, syndicate member of the Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and member of Chittagong Development Authority.
Mahbubul Alam, Nurun Newaz Selim, Syed Jamal Ahmed, president, senior vice president and vice president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry respectively, leaders of Chittagong Press Club and Chittagong Union of Journalists and different socio-cultural organisations, among others, expressed deep shock at the death of the Purbokone editor.
