Pure drinking water in coastal areas demanded

SATKHIRA, Mar 22 (UNB) : A human chain was formed here Tuesday to press home five point demand, including supply of pure drinking water in the south-western coastal areas.
To mark the World Water Day, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Central Water Committee and local Press club jointly organised the hour long programme from 10am in front of local press club.
People of all walks of life took part in the programme.
The participants demanded supply of pure drinking water raising pitcher and placards in their hands.
Their other demand include stopping unplanned shrimp cultivation in saline water, take proper steps to protect costal cross-dam, increase the flow of sweet water in upstream and re-excavate silted river and canal.
