Tuesday, 21 October 2014
Describing Bangladesh as a prospective country in South Asia, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shiro Sadoshima said on Tuesday that the government should pursue its 'look east' policy in economic activities for achieving desired progress. 'Not only western countries like Europe and America, Bangladesh should now forge its trade relations with the countries in the east like Japan, China, Vietnam and even Myanmar in the country's greater economic interest,' he said. The Japanese envoy made the observations while delivering country lecture on 'Japan-Bangladesh Relations: Comprehensive Partnership', organised by Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) at its auditorium in Dhaka. Sadoshima also spoke on Dhaka-Tokyo relations that took a new height over the years, Japanese contribution to Bangladesh's development sector and how Bangladesh can play a leadership role for the development of the Southeast Asian region due to its geographical position, according to BSS.
