Pvt ICDs given two months to fulfill terms, conditions

CHITTAGONG, Aug 27: Chittagong Customs House (CCH) has given two months' time to the private Inland Container Depots (ICDs) owners to fulfil the terms and conditions stipulated in their respective licences.
In case of violation of the terms, drastic measures would be taken against concerned private ICDs.
The decision was taken in a meeting held at the CCH conference room in the port city Tuesday.
Approvals of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA), Fire Service, and Department of Environment were made mandatory for each ICD in the meeting.
Existing equipment and infrastructures would determine the efficiency of the ICDs.
A committee had been formed comprising the representatives of ICD and C&F agents headed by a customs official and it had been asked to submit classification report within next seven days.
On the basis of the recommendation of the committee, responsibilities of ICDs would be fixed up on the basis of loading and unloading of the imported goods, stuffing and unstuffing of the export goods, including loading and unloading of the same and preserving the empty containers.
Task Force-B Commander Brigadier General Hasan Nasir, Customs Commissioner (Import) Md Shah Alam Khan, Customs Commissioner (Export) Margub Ahmad, ICD Owners' Association President SM Shafi and ICD representatives were present in the meeting.
