Pvt organisations urged to fulfil people's basic needs

PABNA, Nov 22 (BSS): State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Huq Tuku urged private organisations and wealthy individuals to come forward along with the government efforts for fulfilling basic needs of people.
"It's a responsibility of the state to ensure basic needs of its inhabitants, but it's difficult for country like Bangladesh with limited resources," he said while speaking at a stipend distribution function at Shaheed Abdus Sattar Auditorium of Edward College in the city Saturday.
At the function, the Pabna Samity based in Dhaka distributed Tk 2000 each as stipend to 274 poor but talented candidates of upcoming secondary school certificate examination.
Presided over by president of Pabna Samity of Dhaka Professor Dr M Anwar Hossen, the function was also addressed by Member of Parliament Golam Faruk Khandakar Prince, Deputy Commissioner of Pabna Mostafizur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Chairman Mosharraf Hossain and Superintendent of Police Jahangir Hossain.
Later, the state minister spoke at an Eid reunion at Madhpur Sheikh Hasina High School ground at Santhia Upazila in the district.
President of school managing committee Ali Akbar Pramanik presided over the function while Santhia Upazila Chairman Nizam Uddin spoke, among others.
