A private university student was held with arms and ammunition by law enforcers from Pallabi in the city Sunday, RAB sources said.
The arrested was identified as Abdur Rahman (20), son of Abu Taher of Pallabi and a BBA student of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology.
A team from RAB-4 unit on a tip-off raided his residence at Mirpur section-7 and arrested Abdur Rahman at about 8:00am and recovered two foreign-made revolvers, one pistol and 17 rounds of bullet from the rooftop of the house.
Deputy Director Maj Tariqul Islam told the FE that the arrested confessed to his involvement in mugging and robbery using the firearms.
The incident indicates that young men from well-to-do families have entered the underworld, the RAB DD commented.
According to the officer, the young man also disclosed some names of his accomplices.
