PW accuses Qaiser of genocide

A prosecution witness, also freedom fighter, has accused SM Qaiser of carrying out genocide leaving 118 Hindus killed in 22 predominantly minority areas under Nasirnagar thana at Brahmanbaria in collaboration with the Pakistan occupation forces and his private outfit during the Liberation War. PW-16 Abdul Matin, alias Jamal came up with the blame while testifying against war crimes accused Qaiser, a former state minister during military rule of HM Ershad. He is now enjoying bail on humanitarian ground. Hailing from village Guniauk at Nasirnagar thana, Jamal, now 67, told the International Crimes Tribunal-2 that the horrific incidents had taken place on November 15, 1971, in 22 villages, including Daura, Gumia, Chitna, and Nishchintapur. The perpetrators had wreaked havoc on the entire villages, he recalled as an eyewitness. The deposition over, freedom fighter PW was cross-examined by the defence counsel partly, according to UNB.
