Qamrul fears BNP may face Muslim League's fate

aUrging BNP to take part in the next general election, Food Minister Qamrul Islam expressed fear on Tuesday that the party might face the fate of Muslim League if it does not participate in the upcoming polls, reports BSS.
"If BNP takes part in the election, they can at least play the role of opposition party. But if it does not take part in the election it's (BNP) existence will become extinct. They may face worse consequences than Muslim League.
The election will be held in due time in accordance with the constitution," he told a discussion held at the National Press Club in the city.
Regarding BNP's demands about participation in the next election, Qamrul said, "BNP put forward some conditions, including resignation of the incumbent government and release of Khaleda Zia. But the terms and conditions are not justified."
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote arranged the discussion marking the 125th birth anniversary of Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy.
