Qamrul warns BNP of facing more cases

Saturday, 4 October 2014

Food Minister Md Qamrul Islam has threatened more cases against BNP leaders and warned that their anti-government movement will face tough street resistance, reports bdnews24.com.
"Don't threaten anymore with your movement, organise your party first. Prepare to face more cases and get good lawyers," the Awami League (AL) leader said referring to the BNP.
He was speaking at a discussion at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium Friday.
Criticising the BNP's political stance, he said, "We know the types of movements out there. They (the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance) said their movement will begin after the Eid, but which Eid?"
He said the ruling party would certainly face and resist the BNP if they take to the streets.
Qamrul Islam feels the BNP is currently without an agenda for their movement.
He also ridiculed the BNP's attempt to create a stir over senior AL leader Abdul Latif Siddique's tirade against Hajj.
The minister said there was no need for talks with the BNP before the 2019 general election.
A polls-time government would be formed at that time with the parties that have representatives in the incumbent parliament, he added.
Islam urged the BNP not to create a fuss over the mid-term election and a dialogue with the government which was unnecessary at this point.
He said, "People are living in peace now. Despite that fact, some so- called intellectuals are now backing the BNP."
