Bangladesh College Teachers' Association (BCTA) observed on Tuesday that the quality of education in the country is improving, but it is not up to the mark yet, reports UNB.
They came up with the observation at a press conference, titled 'Education: Achievements, Unrealised Expectations and Way Forward' at the Jatiya Press Club.
BCTA president Principal Kazi Faruk Ahmed said, "We aren't claiming that the quality of country's education has reached its apex position, though improvement is taking place in the sector."
He also criticised Sushashoner Jonno Nagarik (Sujon) for making negative remarks on the quality of education in a seminar held in the capital recently.
Faruk said underestimating the merit of the students and labour of their parents cannot be accepted.
He alleged that Sujon came up with the discussion to create an unwanted debate between the Education Minister and the vice chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).
