The Disaster Management Bureau (DMB) in collaboration with the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) organised the workshop tilted 'Disaster Risk Reduction and Mass Media' at BIAM auditorium in the city. Describing the mass media as strong weapons for mobilising people, he urged the media people to write positive reports on disaster management and make the people living in disaster-prone areas aware about natural calamities. "You can save thousands of vulnerable people by your authentic, fair and positive reports," the DMB director also said.
Addressing the programme, M Farhad Uddin underlined the need for coordinated efforts of all so that people can learn how to live in disaster-prone areas. "We'll have to adopt an appropriate strategy to survive in Bangladesh, a country which is regularly hit by natural calamities."
