Quorum crisis and wastage of Tk 1 billion
Saturday, 22 March 2014
A recent report published by the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) says our country had wasted time worth more than Tk one billion due to the quorum crisis during the ninth parliament and it is an example of our wasteful nature. I thank the TIB for publishing such a report. It will create pressure on our leaders to be more economical as most of our countrymen are still living below the poverty line. We have failed to send all of our children to school or ensure their better future. Such survey will open our eyes and the common people will be more aware about their money.
Both the ruling and opposition parties must be liable for this wastage. It seems that our leaders have not learned the time tasting proverb "waste not, want not". Despite passing 42 years of independence, we are still languishing among underdeveloped countries. We firmly believe that our country, in no sense, is poor rather we have failed to utilise our time, talent, and resource judiciously.
Instead of working for betterment of our country, we remain busy in petty squabbling. We also hope that we will not see quorum crisis wasting money from our national exchequer in future. It is high time our leaders learnt to live within our means.
