Mohammad Emon, a 17-year-old youth who was shot during a clash between law enforcing agencies and students during the violence around the quota reform movement, has died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, reports bdnews24.com.
Emon was a staff member at a restaurant in the Vatara area in Dhaka's Notun Bazar. He was shot in the middle of a clash while heading to work from home on July 19.
The youth passed away while receiving treatment at the hospital's Ward 101 at 3:15am on Saturday.
The body of Emon has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, said Bachchu Mia, officer-in-charge of the DMCH police outpost.
Emon used to live with his elder sister Tahmina in Notun Bazar. Tahmina told the newsagency, "He was my only sibling. Emon is the younger one. He was heading to the hotel from the house that day. He sustained a gunshot wound on the abdomen during the clash."
