Rab-11 gets new CO

Lt Col Anowar Latif Khan has been appointed as the new Commanding Officer (CO) of Rab-11 in Narayanganj. The appointment comes a week after the removal of Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mahmud, former CO of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-11 following the abduction and murder of seven people, including Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyers Chandan Sarker in Narayanganj city on April 27. Tarek Sayeed Mahmud and two other Rab-11 personnel, accused of taking bribe for the multiple murders, have been forced into retirement. Lt Col Khan was the CO of Rab-5. Rab’s Assistant Director (Media) Sadira Khatun said Khan had joined duty in his new workplace in Narayanganj today (Friday), according to bdnews24.com.
